So it has been a long time since I have posted on here, and I figured it would be best to just delete all old posts and start off fresh. I will be posting a lot more next year about poker, life, etc. but until then will be mostly life and some poker.
My Dad and I are currently in New Orleans, LA to play a couple events at the Winter Bayou Poker Challenge. We're staying at the W New Orleans which is the most impressive hotel I've stayed at. We have Harrah's on one side of us, and Mother's restaurant on the other.
Mother's was featured on Man vs Food and is simply amazing. We came in Tuesday night and ordered a Ferdy Special po boy and a fried catfish po boy. We had half of each and were absolutely amazing. We then went back this morning between registration and the start of the tournament to split the Ferdy Special. We will go at least once more (probably 2 or 3 times) and my dad wants to try the plain ham po boy which is probably amazing.

Won't talk about poker much as it just didn't go well but tomorrow will be a different story. It will be a $340 6 max NLHE with a super soft field. We were informed once we got here that these are 2 day events and on Cardplayer they were listed as all 1 day events except the $3125. After finding this out we can't play the Friday event as we have to pick my sister up in Dallas on Saturday night from the airport.
So we headed over to Deanie's Seafood in Metairie (suburb of New Orleans) which was about 15 minutes from the hotel. It was also featured in Man vs Food and it was a must stop place for us.
Right from the start this place was amazing. They start off with some red potatoes that were out of this world. Then for an appetizer we had 2lbs of boiled crawfish. A lot of work for the small amount of meat inside but well worth it. Then came the seafood and okra gumbo. Incredible. Had a crab claw as well as shrimp in a spicy rice gumbo. For the main course was Barbeque Jumbo Shrimp, which is what we came for. The picture doesn't do justice of exactly how big and flavorful these were. Biggest and best tasting shrimp, hands down no contest. To finish it off was Coconut Custard with shaved almonds bread pudding. This was a perfect ending to a perfect meal and anyone who is remotely close to this place needs to go.
